Antioxidant Cocktail

Margot

It's the holiday season. A time of cozy gatherings that give way to an unspoken acceptance of a season of indulgence.  Personally, I am all for a little indulgence here and there.  It keeps me from taking life too seriously.  But I can only go so long before I start to feel like a more sluggish version of myself and look forward to January 1st when I will resolve to return to my health(ier) lifestyle.

In the midst of a week-long celebration of Thanksgiving with family and friends (why celebrate the greatest holiday on earth for just one day?), we received a text from our Bozeman friends about a recent version of their famous “antioxidant cocktail”, and I thought: ‘Now that’s a good idea...why not antioxidize your way through the holidays!?’  If I recall correctly, after enjoying one or two of these together at 'Camp Bozeman 2013', we were all laughing a little more loudly and sharing stories a little more easily. Truth be told, I believe it was the neighborly gathering of friends, old and new, that warmed our souls and cleansed our spirits. But surely this prescription for healthful toasting didn’t hurt.

And so, whether a stroke of brilliance or just a way to feel better about all of this festive indulgence, I thought I’d share this recipe for Shasta & Tom’s irresistible, whiskeylicious treat.  Enjoy!

- 1 or 2 fresh squeezed oranges, depending on how juicy the oranges are ("I like the squeezers that leave a lot of pulp," says the mix master)
- Healthy handful of Costco three berry blend (best deal on frozen berries you will find anywhere)
- Two generous shots of bourbon
- A generous splash of good tequila
- A lime wedge
- As much soda water as your hydration needs demand
-Stir and Enjoy!
